DULUTH - An annual fall tradition brought in hundreds of people from all over for a bird’s eye view of nature in action. Bird watchers flocked to Skyline Parkway for the annual Hawk Weekend Festival.

With they're eyes and spotting scopes to the sky they got to see the migration of hawks and other types of raptors.

"We've had beautiful kettles of broad wing hawks, great views of sharp sheng hawks, we've had we've actually had a red shouldered hawk in the hand today which is a rare bird for us to see,” Hawk Ridge Bird Observatory Executive Director Janelle Long said. “So it’s just been a phenomenal weekend for the migration and our festival."

The festival has ended but staff and volunteers will be at the Hawks Ridge Bird Observatory to help identify and point out birds until the end of October.
