DULUTH – One-hundred and fifty runners hit Park Point to fight a type of cancer with just a 4% percent survival rate. The second annual Park Point Beach Run 5k for Pancreatic Cancer kicked off to raise awareness and money for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Funds will be used for research, early detection and aiding families suffering from the disease.

"We have had in our organization a couple of our dear friends and board members pass away from pancreatic cancer in the last four years, so its a race close to our hearts with Grandma's Marathon," said Bob Gustafson with Grandma’s Marathon. “So we're fortunate that we're able to put this race on."

Five dollars of every entry and all net proceeds from the event will go to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.
