DULUTH- Duluth police are making their final push to connect with kids before school starts.
Police and community organizers held their final "Cops,Cars and Kids" event today.
Organizers say it's been a hit and allows for an open dialogue between police and kids.
They say lower income children often have a negative view of officers so they want to change that.
Community activist, Stephan Witherspoon said, "there's a lot of teenagers who are afraid of the cops. They say that they just want to arrest them, they give them a hard time, so this is a good atmosphere for them to come together, to eat together, dance together and just hang out."
Duluth police are hosting another event. to connect with kids through physical activity.
It's called the "Punt, Pass and Kick" competition" happening September 13th at UMD.
