Dragon Boat Races Kick Off

SUPERIOR- The weather didn't dampen spirits at all at the Dragon Boat festival in Superior.More than 90 teams spent to day racing in the harbor on Barker's Island as hundreds of spectators braved cool temperatures to enjoy the premier summer event in Superior.
The event will raise nearly 80 thousand dollars that will help the community.
Dragon Boat festival co-chair, Dan Diamond said, "it's been a great day. We started out last night, had a great party here. Fireworks were incredible. The Canadians showed up, it was a really good time. And today, it's been going very, very well."
Circle of Hope paddler, Anne Sims, "we did really good on our first heat. We were four people short of a full boat, and then we came out our second race and we beat our first time."
Essentia health also helps to raise funds through the race for cancer research.
