DULUTH - "It's just great to see the people here and the airplanes here and everything we're so excited," Duluth Airshow Media Director Jodi Kiminski said. Civilian and military aircraft performers came to the Duluth Airshow with a plan to showcase what they can do in the skies."We are gonna demonstrate super maneuverability,” F22 Demonstration Team Superintendent Master Sgt. Jason Kraemer said. “This airplane will back flip, it will go in reverse, we will take it down to 70 miles per hour ground speed." Thirty to 40,000 spectators from all over the country came out to see just what Kraemer described."I just like seeing all the planes and all the stunts and stuff that they do," said spectator Gino Bertogliat. "The speed, how fast they go, how fast they fly,” spectator Tom Stewart said. “The precision that they Blue Angels do.""It feels like cool and like the ground shaking sometimes when they take off," Spectator Tia Bertogliat said. Unfortunately the cloudy weather did not make for good flying conditions."We need 1500 feet of clear skies in order to safely execute the demonstrations," said Kraemer."We've had to cancel a lot of our pre–flights that we wanted to offer people and that's been a little bit disappointing," said Kiminski. But organizers say the show must go on."People are still here and they're very excited to see the aircraft on the ground and talk to the performers," said Kiminski. Officials say whether they are able to execute aerial performances or not, they still hope to inspire youth, show appreciation to veterans and let the public know they are protected."We wanna give them a chance to come out, we wanna talk with the people," said Kraemer. “We want to give them a chance to interact with their military and then the other thing is we wanna showcase our capabilities to our enemies." Organizers are more hopeful for the second day of the airshow. They say if you did not use your ticket on the first day of the show, it will be honored on the second day of the event.
