DULUTH - Next time you're on Duluth’s Lakewalk you will notice a new memorial to honor those serving in the Navy.
It's a 22,500 pound anchor from the USS Duluth.
The ship was scrapped, but sailors who served on it managed to save the anchor and return it to Duluth.
"It kind of gives me chills and a little bit of tears,” said Rear Admiral David Duryea. “I've been in the Navy for 30 years and it's great to see people appreciate the Navy. It's great to see all the crew members come back to Duluth for this dedication."
The USS Duluth sailed the seas for more than 40 years.
Friday’s dedication is part of Duluth’s Navy week.
