Boating Accident Injures Four

PRESS RELEASE- On August 15th at approximately 10:20 P.M. The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a boat crash that occurred at the Moccasin Point Boat Landing on Lake Vermilion.
Dan Lamppa was the operator of the boat when it struck a concrete boat pier (Boat Dock) at the landing.
Dan Lamppa was transported by the Cook ambulance to the Cook Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Nancy Lamppa was transported by the Tower ambulance to the Essentia Health-Virginia Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Kathy Weulander was treated on scene by Medical Personnel and did not require any additional medical treatment.
Steven Jacobson was transported by the Virginia ambulance to the Essentia Health Virginia Hospital and then later transported by North Memorial Air Care to St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth in serious condition.
Operating at night and Alcohol are possible factors in the crash. The boat crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
