WASHBURN COUTY - Authorities have recovered the body of a 30-year-old man near a creek in a remote area.
Sheriff's deputies received a call from a company in St. Louis, Missouri saying an employee had gone missing and the GPS on their truck showed it was in the Trego area.
Authorities began a search in the area of Dilly Lake in the Township of Crystal.
The truck was located in the south end of Dilly Lake, in Potato Creek, where it had broken through the ice.
The truck had frozen water up to the seat, but the driver was not inside the vehicle.
The search continued and authorities found the body of Edward Steinhardt, 30, of Naperville, Illinois about half a mile south of the truck.
He was located in the brushy bottomland along Potato Creek.
According to preliminary indications, authorities said Steinhardt drove across the ice on Dilly Lake before his truck broke through.
They said he then walked along the creek, after getting wet, and died from exposure to the harsh winter conditions.
An autopsy has been ordered by the Washburn County Deputy Coroner.
