St. Luke's Holds Decontamination Training

DULUTH - Nurses at St. Luke's brushed up their skills for scary situations.

It's for the annual decontamination safety exercise.

With help from the Duluth Fire Department and 148th Fighter Wing, they prepared for a possible mass casuality accident.

Instructors say it's important to keep up-to-date on the plans, because they never know when something could happen.

"If you've got people with chemicals or biological agent on them you want to get that stuff off as fast as possible, so keeping their training sharp allows them to get in and do this process to clean the patients off faster," said Mike Marturano, the Safety Officer for St. Luke's Hospital.

In August, St. Luke's will hold a statewide tornado safety drill for its staff.
