TOWER - Wednesday afternoon, 107 kids zipped up their life jackets and grabbed their poles for the 5th Annual Take a Kid Fishing Day on Lake Vermilion.
Local fishing guides loaded up their boats with kids and showed them how it's done.
A pair we caught up with were strangers when they got on the boat, and by the end of the day they snagged a 14 inch walleye together.
"It was a little bit shocking actually,” laughed Duluth fisherman, David Anderson. “I was reeling in and I was like, oh my gosh, there's a walleye on this line.”
“He's like this is the fish, this is the fish," said Anderson’s fishing partner, Hunter Swanson vacationing from Denver, Colorado.
When the kids got off the boat they learned how to clean their fish, and were treated to a free fish fry dinner.
