Pet Parade Kicks Off Hermantown Summerfest

HERMANTOWN - It was a perfect night for neighbors to start celebrating the town's 34th Annual Summerfest.
It kicked off Wednesday with the annual Pet Parade.
Kids of all ages brought their dogs, cats, ponies, chickens and other pets and showed off their stylish getups.
Organizers hope people take away a sense of community to help slow down today's fast-paced lifestyle.
"You're hearing an awful lot of chirping, which is good. People talking to neighbors. They might not see each other, but they come out here for an hour or so and rekindle relationships, build friendships, and feel good about being residents of Hermantown," said Bob Swanstrom, the event's coordinator.
FOX 21's Dan Hanger was the event's emcee.
Summerfest runs through Sunday.
