Birthday Bash For Baby Monkeys

DULUTH- The Lake Superior Zoo is going ape over a special birthday.

The zoo threw Kermit and Kaya, a pair of colobus monkeys, a bash for the record books for their first birthday.

The party included ice cream, music and of course gifts.

Primate keeper, David Thompson said, "this is a kids jungle gym and we have converted it into a monkey jungle gym. There's a lot of play but it's special play because it really is teaching them and preparing them for the future."

The zoo keeper says Kaya and Kermit are very energetic, enthusiastic and very much like human kids.

The monkeys were bred at the Lake Superior Zoo through their conservation program.
