DULUTH- If you didn't plan ahead and are thinking of heading to the local fireworks stands to liven up your party, think again.Cully Williams has been driving by "Captain Rons Liberty Fireworks" for the past two days, but today he finally decided to stop by.When asked about the selection at the stand, Williams said, "disappointed possibly, I don't know, it's still pretty cool."Williams and other last minute shoppers were hoping to light up their evening, but stand was pretty picked over.Colin said, "It doesn't have as much as I expected it to have."The merchants of the holiday pizzazz said they didn't expect to sell so much, so quickly.Owner Ron Bucar said, "while we were closed, they were coming in at 7am this morning, I didn't realize it was going to be like that."Manager, Amanda Campana said, "our whole stand was full along with boxes underneath, so we were pretty packed to the gills and now we barely have anything left over."While the stand still had plenty of sparklers and poppers to sell, the main objects of desire were gone.Campana said, "our biggest seller was our pier fantasy, it's a fountain, it's about this big, it sparkles, it shot out maybe 30 feet, nothing really big. Pretty loud and just really colorful."The fact that the 4th landed on Friday probably contributed to the boom in sales, with many people buying their goods early.Bucar said, "I noticed a lot of people were getting off last night or yesterday and there's going to be more coming today that are getting off on Friday, but they're gearing up for a four day weekend."While selling out is great for business, Burcar says he is sad to disappoint."And I'm sorry because I like to make sure if they come up from out of town, they always have something."Sold out or not, there were a few things some customers were looking for they wouldn't be able to find.Williams said he was looking for, "probably Roman candles, black cats, stuff like that."
