Fourth Of July Fun On the Range

AURORA- Aurora Patriotic Days are a way for a community to come together, celebrate the birth of our nation, have food, fun, and raise money for a good cause.Oompas fill the air and friends and family flock to the dance floor as the polka band sets the stage for a wholesome holiday weekend brining folks to town from near and far.Duluthian, Linda Kromschroder said, "because it's fun. There's a lot of nice people up here and they got a lot of nice games and things for the kids to do."The streets in downtown Aurora are shut down so families can celebrate the long holiday weekend and there's something for everybody.When asked what's the best part about the celebration, Mesabi East baseball players, Devin Anderson and Levi Skelton said, "just getting together with your family. Yep family and fireworks. "Shana Giauque said, "family time I guess."No party is complete without food, food, and more food.Giauque said, "fried bread. You can have whip cream on it, apple filling on it, and it's really good."Kromschroder said, "right now, corn on the cob."There's ample opportunity to don your favorite red, white and blue accessories and plenty of entertainment.Sebastian Kromschroder said, "you dig in the saw dust and there's washers and you find it and each one's a dollar."The Mesabi East baseball team even used the day to set up a tried and true money earner, the dunk tank of course.Anderson said, "I think we have to raise $800 each, so what we raise every hour we work, I think it's like ten bucks."Chairs lined the streets early for the parade but it seems like the fan favorite is of course the show stopping pyrotechnics."Fire works!"The fireworks."These beautiful ladies are marching in the parade tonight and they say Aurora patriotic days are the best part of summer.
