DULUTH - Sen. Al Franken toured AAR Aircraft Services Friday.
Franken was there to talk about the 'skills gap' that has left employers looking for workers.
The Senator says right now there are three million technical jobs available nationwide, but politicians and parents need to encourage interest in technical jobs.
Senator Franken said, "What we really have to emphasize to young people and their parents, is that a two year community and technical college education is not a ceiling, it's a pathway."
Franken said he applauds workplaces like AAR for connecting technical schools, like LSC, directly with graduates able to fill jobs.
He says more businesses should follow this model and more people should take advantage of the link.
