Superior Sports Complex Adds Softball
By:
SUPERIOR - Before the state of the art sports complex in Superior was just going to be the new home for football, track, soccer and baseball games and practices. But now softball has been added to the program after school officials say they got complaints from parents about leaving the sport out of the mix.
Project coordinators say they are in the process of making the complex more softball user friendly.
Plans include adding a portable mound and fencing.
"As a group we're looking at not only what can we do now to make sure all our programs have a place to practice and play, but what can we do in the future to make sure everybody has a spot that is adequate for them," Superior High School Activities Director Ray Kosey said.
School officials also say they are in need of about $300,000 in donations to purchase bleachers and lights for the football and baseball fields.
They are also looking for people who are interested in purchasing the naming rights for some of the fields.
Anyone interested in donating can contact the school.
The plan is to have the first soccer and football game played at the complex at the end of August.
