Lommel Gets Fitted for Bionic Hand

DULUTH - The University of Minnesota Duluth student who nearly froze to death after a night of drinking this winter now has a custom made electronic hand.

According to her Caring Bridge site, Alyssa Lommel is in Ohio getting fitted and learning how to use her new bionic hand.

On the hand are the words, "You have to fall before you can fly".

Her mom writes though she’s come so far in recovery, Lommel continues to get frustrated and wishes for her fingers back.

She's expected to return to UMD this fall.
