DULUTH - Heavy rain is being blamed for a track wash-out in Duluth. It happened over the weekend around 57th Avenue East.
While it seems a little frightening to some, experts say it's actually a common problem after significant weather events.
"This happens quite often. It's a regular occurrence. We have some culverts on the line that just separate a little bit and end up having to get patched," said Bjorn Ojard, of North Shore Track Services, which takes care of the tracks.
This effected part of the track was not of immediate concern Monday because trains are not running that far north while a bridge is repaired for unrelated reasons at 36th Avenue East.
The North Shore Scene Railroad expects repairs to be complete by Friday, which will then allow full train rides up the North Shore.
