Minn. House Approves Spending for Construction Projects

FOX 21 News, KQDS-DT

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) - The Minnesota House has given approval to more than $1 billion in construction projects paid for with state bonds and cash, a crucial link in a session-ending deal.

From hiking trails to prison repairs to laboratories on college campuses, the plan is chock full of building projects in every corner of the state. They are part of a pair of bills, one of which needed a three-fifths majority to pass.

Both cleared the House early Friday morning.

The largest single item is $126 million to complete the Capitol renovation.

The smallest is $78,000 for work on a historic bridge in Hanover.

The most intense negotiations surrounded the $22 million devoted toward the Lewis and Clark regional water pipeline project in southwestern Minnesota.

State senators planned to vote later Friday.
