DULUTH - A project that took more than 13 years to finish is finally getting some recognition.
The Duluth-Missabe railway car came to the Depot in 1999.
Since then, it's been fully restored with new paint, wall replacements and a new roof.
Monday evening, the car was honored at the Duluth Preservation Awards.
The ceremony celebrates the community's effort to keep significant pieces of character in Duluth.
"Trying to save something that ties together a whole bunch of history,” said former Lake Superior Railroad Curator, Tom Gannon. “This car does that by tying together the history of early railroading in Minnesota."
Six vintage homes in Duluth were also honored as part of the ceremony.
