Essentia Employee Knits Stockings for Newborns

DULUTH - Newborns at Essentia Health St. Mary's Medical Center are getting some warm winter gifts made specially by a hospital employee.

Julie Noel Kubala knits stockings because nurses swaddled her in one after she was born on Christmas Eve.

Now, a few dozen of her hand–made stockings are going to newborn babies at the hospital.

Kubala is part of a group of volunteers who knit year–round to make the newborn stockings.

A manager at the hospital says parents appreciate the unexpected gift.
