Man Sentenced for Grand Rapids Stabbing
GRAND RAPIDS - A 31 year old Deer River man has pleaded guilty to charges stemming from a stabbing incident in Grand Rapids.
Dana Middleton pleaded guilty to two counts of second degree assault for the crime which happened on Canal Street in February.
According to the criminal complaint Middleton stabbed a man under his left armpit and cut his lip.
Middleton was at the victim's apartment after being invited there by a mutual friend.
The criminal complaint states that when he arrived at the apartment he was drunk and continued drinking while at the place and said some disrespectful things to the victim and their mutual friend.
That led to the stabbing and a fight started by Middleton.
Middleton was sentenced Monday to more than three years in prison for the first count and more than four years in prison for the second count.
The sentences will be served concurrently.
