MINNESOTA- Governor Dayton is set to sign the bill which will raise the minimum wage in Minnesota to nine dollars $9.50 Monday afternoon.
The governor will be signing the bill at the rotunda at 2:30 pm.
According to Dayton the bill will affect more than 300,000 Minnasotans.
Minnesota is one of only four states that had a minimum wage below the national rate of $7.25.
This is the first time Minnesotans have seen a minimum wage increase since 2005.
The governor believes people who are working full time should be able to support their families.
A single parent, with two children, working full–time for the previous minimum wage of $6.15, would be living $7000 below the poverty line.
