Loaves and Fishes Little Free Library Set on Fire

DULUTH - A little library that brings people together was set on fire Saturday morning.

A guest at Loaves and Fishes woke up to police running up to house with fire extinguishers.

An officer just happened to be driving by around 8:30 a.m. and saw smokw billowing out of the free book library.

The officer was able to put out the flames quickly.

The Duluth Fire Department stopped by, but said the cause was undetermined.

Loaves and Fishes still doesn't know who did this.

"It's a community thing, it brings people together. So, I don'tknow why anyone would want to set it on fire," said live-in volunteer Allen Killian-Moore.

The free library can be used by anyone in the community.

You can put books in or take one out to read and the goal is to promote community interaction.

Loaves and Fishes also has another library at a second Duluth location that provides children's books.

"There's a lot of time put into it, I would say, and a lot of love. So, it's hard to put that kind of value on something like this. It's kind of sad," added Killian-Moore.

The library will have to be rebuilt.

The community home is looking for anyone who could donate materials or time.
