DULUTH- While lobbying for the runway expansion in DC this week, Duluth city officials accomplished another goal.

They met with some of the highest military officials at the Pentagon who oversee the Air National Guard.

City officials are looking for an update on the Active Association that Duluth was granted a couple years ago.

They were assured it would still move forward and the 148th will be granted up to 150 active duty air force members.

Daniel Fanning with the City of Duluth said, "Perhaps even better news was just the way that he talked about Duluth, and really focused on that fact that Duluth is the model, is kind of the standard for the Air National Guard."

Up to 50 Air Force members will likely be added this time next year.

The city said it's not only good for the 148th, it's great for the local economy.
