Babbitt Man Found Incompetent to Stand Trial for Murder

BABBITT - The 24–year–old Babbitt man accused of killing his mother's boyfriend has been found incompetent to stand trial after undergoing a mental evaluation.
Shawn Doherty had been facing one count of second degree murder.

Authorities say he strangled 55–year–old Paul Bulen to death.

Bulen was found dead in January on the street outside his girlfriend's home.

Now the court will begin the process of having Doherty committed.

The prosecuting attorney said if he were ever restored to competency then the state would pursue re–instating the charge against him.
