MnDOT Kicking Off Construction Projects Soon

Duluth- The Minnesota Department of Transportation has more than 300 constructions projects scheduled in the state this year.
The goal is to improve highways, bridges and the state infrastructure.
There are also many local projects.
MnDOT has 36 construction projects scheduled for the Northland and crews are anxious for the snow to melt so they can get busy.
The winter weather isn't going to slow MnDOT down at all.
They are still planning to kick of $120 million worth of construction in May.
The projects are staggered and have delays factored in.
A MnDOT spokesperson says the many different construction projects will not just upgrade the roads in northern Minnesota, but they are also going to bring in work for the Northland.
MnDOT spokesperson Beth Petrowske said, "these projects do generate a lot of work for people. We hire our contractors who then in turn hire subcontractors and it provides a lot of jobs, so we're glad to do that."
There are 36 constructions scheduled for the year.
This includes the Bong Bridge job, the reconstruction of the intersection of Big Lake road and 33 in Cloquet, and pot hole repair.
Petrowske said, "our maintenance crews will be very busy filling potholes this year. It's going to be a big year for potholes."
Some of these projects will cause lane closures, and construction lanes, so MnDOT is asking everyone be patient and be careful to keep their workers safe.
