Beacon Bank Donates Safe to Esko Historical Society

DULUTH- Duluth's Beacon Bank has moved locations and in the process donated their old safe to a society that cherishes old things.

The Esko Historical Society happily accepted the safe Thursday morning to protect precious documents containing the history of the township.

The safe will be used to store photos, original writings of the township's growth and other historical documents.

"What we have done in the last few years is digitized all of this original material and it's all available to the public now through Minnesota Reflections and other various organizations, but the originals we want safe," said Ken Nynas, president of the Esko Historical Society.

More than 40 organizations showed interest in the safe.

The 5,000 pound safe was moved from the bank to the historical society Thursday.
