BRULE- Back in 2012 there was a concern the Brule hatchery would shut down.
But not anymore.
The hatchery is set to release fish into Lake Michigan next month and will start releasing into Lake Superior in May.
Hatchery employees say they were saved because people spoke up.
Bill Gobin said, "The public got involved and local legislators and our DNR then re–thought the whole process and asked for more money. And received more money for at least the two years we are in now. This is the second of those two years. And we have fish prepared to come in here yet again this spring."
The "Friends of the Hatchery" will have an open house in June to raise more funds to help keep the place running.
