Bockfest Kicks off With Beer Blessing

DULUTH - The beer has been blessed and Germans are coming out of hibernation to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Bockfest.

The tradition celebrates the ending of a long rugged winter and a chance to catch up with neighbors you haven't seen since fall.

This year, Lake Superior Brewing Company is supplying the beer with their award winning Split Rock Bock.

“Toast not just the Bock, but toast each other,” toasted Ken Beuhler, the emcee of Bockfest celebrations. “With what is nourishing for the body, fulfilling for the soul and excitingly lifting to the spirit.”

Bockfest events will last through Saturday night in the courtyard behind Fitgers.
