DULUTH - The Duluth Women's Expo aims at pampering women and giving them the day all to themselves.
"They've got stations set up along the wall where women can actually get things done with their hair and make–up and waxing and things like that," said Tracy Lundeen with Lundeen Productions.
Statics show women make 70% of the decisions in the household.
"The people that are here from the standpoint of exhibiting or as vendors, they wanna speak to that powerful group of people," said Lundeen.
The women's expo isn't all glitz and glam, this year they have everything from home security to self–defense.
"So many women today are living independently and they have to deal on a daily basis with automobile issues, issues of security whether it's security personal security or security for their families," said Lundeen.
"Home security is a huge issue in the last couple years here in Duluth with the 33% raise in the home break–ins," said Scott Frankovich with Great Lakes Alarm Security.
Great Lakes Alarm Security set up a booth to help women keep their families safe.
"When your kids come home from school and they activate the alarm it takes a little 10 second video and shoots it to your phone or to your email and mom and dad can go, oh my kids are home," said Frankovich.
NAPA set up shop with tools to test cars and a simulator board that simulates an engine that's in disrepair.
Women can use the toosl and figure out what the problem is and then learn how to fix it.
"We know that women are making most of the calls today on a lot the ways money is spent, even on car repairs, and I think a women realizes it's more important to follow maintenance and get the car fixed than to ignore it," said shop owner Brad Williams.
For self-denfense, DeFuser Pepper Spray has a pepper spray tool that becomes disabled is an attacker gains possession of the spray.
"We are here to help spread awareness about self–defense; keep people educated and tell them how we can help keep them safe," said Chuck Dapper, CEO of DeFuser Pepper Spray.
Giving women all the tools to be pampered and protect themselves in the same place.
