Free Breakfasts to Help End Homelessness in Duluth
By:

DULUTH - Outreach workers tell FOX 21 they've been helping a lot more locals who are living out of their cars.
The uptick is coming from an increase in tips from their outreach hotline.
They've also started serving a free breakfast a few times a week as a way to connect with and help more people who are sleeping outside.
"We've met a few people sleeping in vehicles that we wouldn't know about unless the doors were open for that breakfast,” CHUM Street Outreach Worker Deb Holman said. “So it's kinda getting the word out about those breakfasts and getting people in."
The free breakfasts are served at the Gimaajii every Tuesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.
In the coming weeks it will be served at the Elim Lutheran Church on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.
CHUM is also in need on donations.
Especially boots which are hard to come by since most stores no longer carry them.
If you know someone who may be homeless you can call the 24 hour Street Outreach Team hotline at 218-461-8505.
Officials with Chum say right now they are over capacity but they will not turn anyone away.
