DULUTH - The Great Lakes Aquarium is taking a huge step into the future by starting construction on three new classrooms.
Thanks to $125,000 in donations from the Minnesota Power Foundation, the aquarium will start expanding its current classroom area into its Discovery Center.
The goal is to cater to the aquarium's rapidly expanding educational needs.
“It will really enhance our ability to deliver a hands on quality program that uses our exhibit halls and our animal collection, and really connects kids to Lake Superior,” said the aquarium's education director, Sarah Erickson.
There will also be a community room which can be used as a meeting space.
