DULUTH - The Duluth Polar Bear Plunge is this Saturday, and on Tuesday, the beach entrance behind Canal Park Lodge was already cleared of ice and snow to make room for hundreds of plungers raising money for a good cause.
"We've got about 300 to 400 Special Olympics athletes right in the Duluth and Northeast Minnesota area that all benefit from what the plungers do," said Mike Thamm, a Duluth police officer and co-organizer of Duluth's plunge.
Carly Barnstorf, 11, of Proctor, is a special Olympian who told FOX 21's Dan Hanger that she is more than pumped for the big plunge and more than thankful for all the jumpers.
"They're really good and I think they're wonderful and really good at it all," Barnstorf said. "Thank you for donating."
FOX 21 is once again a proud sponsor of this fantastic event. Check out our plunge page to make a pledge to your favorite on-air personality. http://www.plungemn.org/team/fox21news
