DULUTH - If your new year’s resolution to work out hasn't been working out, or if you're just sick of being cooped up, this winter there's a unique place where you can literally climb your way out of the winter blues.

“You will feel much, much better after a day here than a day on the couch when it's cold,” said Bill Rusk, facility manager at Vertical Endeavors located in the Adventure Zone in Canal Park.

There isn't any blowing snow or 30 below wind chills; just a 42 foot wall, a harness, and thankfully some pretty thick ropes.

“It's just yourself,” Rusk said. “It's your body getting yourself up the wall and it's a very personal rewarding experience.”

Winter Edberg is six years old and a fearless climber.

“I try to make my own routes sometimes,” he said, as his dad tightened his harness.

He doesn't waste his time at the playground on the monkey bars, but with his best friend and climbing idol who happens to be his dad.

“I like to climb and my dad works here and I like to be with him,” Edberg said.

Next time you think twice about staying in, you can choose a one of a kind workout and maybe kick start a passion you never knew existed.

Vertical Endeavors caters specially to people who have never climbed before.
