DULUTH - The mission of a local drive is to bring hundreds of books to Northland students.

The organizers of the International Book Giving Day Book Drive are collecting new or gently used books to give to every student at Laura Macarthur Elementary.

So far, they've collected more than 800, but they still need 80 easy chapter books for second, third and fourth graders.

"The book drive has gone fantastic this year. We're so excited about how many people have given books already in just three weeks,” International Book Giving Day founder Amy Broadmoore said. "So going so well, so close to achieving that goal."

You can drop off books through Feb. 13 at Fitger's and J Skylark bookstores as well as Mount Royal Fine Foods and Bixby’s Cafe.
