SUPERIOR - The suspect in a murder case that's taken an unusual turn in Superior was ready for court Tuesday.
Twenty-two year old Tiawain Johnson of Chicago, who has been out of jail for weeks, showed up Tuesday in Douglas County court.
He's accused in the 2012 killing of Toriano Cooper.
Johnson pleaded not–guilty months ago and ordered a speedy trial which by law had to start within 90 days.
However, while in jail earlier this year the District Attorney said Johnson confessed to the shooting to inmates which created additional evidence in the case.
The trial was then put on hold and Johnson was released on a $1 million signature bond.
Johnson remains out of jail as long as he makes scheduled court appearances.
His new trial is set for May 19th.
