Rice Lake Township Residents Speak Out Against Annexation

RICE LAKE TOWNSHIP - More than 150 people filled Rice Lake City Hall to voice their opinions against a potential annexation Tuesday.
The township board made it clear they have not entered into discussions with Duluth.
The board has hired a company to study the township to see if becoming part of Duluth would be a good idea.
Duluth has asked to annex nearly half of the township and it was clear many community members don't want any part of it.
Timothy Herstad said, “Donny Ness is bullying the people of Rice Lake into moving to the city of Duluth. Most of the people live here because they don't want to be a part of the city.”
Members of the township plan to attend the Duluth City Council meeting on Monday to voice their opinions.
