DULUTH – The lights on the Blatnik Bridge are shining bright once again.
They were turned off Dec. 12 because they created a glare making it difficult for mariners to see.
Beth Petrowske, public affairs coordinator for MnDOT, said the delay in getting the lights turned back on was due to a breakdown in communication.
The person who controls the electrical components for the lights had not been given the approval to turn them back on.
The lights will stay on for the rest of winter, but may be temporarily turned off in spring to make adjustments to the fixtures, according to Petrowske.
