SUPERIOR, Wis. – Superior Police are investigating a late morning armed robbery at Champions Lounge. On Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at approx. 11:15 a.m., officers from the Superior Police Department responded to a 911 call to Champions Lounge at 715 Belknap Street in reference to an armed robbery that had just taken place a few minutes prior.Responding officers searched the immediate area but were unable to locate any suspect. The employee working at the time was one of the business owners and provided initial information to officers. They stated that the suspect had entered through the back door of the establishment and immediately approached the bar demanding the money, including pull tab money. The suspect pointed a small handgun at the employee so they immediately complied with the suspect's demands and turned over the money. The suspect was described as being a white male, about Mid to late 30's, approx. 6 feet tall, with dark hair. The suspect fled on foot out the back door and was not located.Unknown if a vehicle was involved. The Douglas County K–9 Unit responded and did a "track" which brought officers west of Champions Lounge to the area behind the Blaine Business Center a block away where the track was eventually lost.Investigators will be reviewing video surveillance from any businesses in the area in hopes of developing more leads in this case.Anyone that was in the area at the time of this incident and feels they may have seen something possibly related to this incident are asked to contact the Superior Police Department.
