Gov. Walker to Lay Out Tax Cut Proposals in Wednesday State of the State

FOX 21 News, KQDS-DT

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Gov. Scott Walker's $504 million tax cut proposals will be the focus of his State of the State speech.

Walker is set to deliver his fourth State of the State speech on Wednesday night before a joint meeting of the Legislature.

Walker says he will outline his plans for lowering property taxes $101 for the owner of a typical home.

He is also calling for lowering the lowest income tax bracket, resulting in savings of between $44 and $58 for each filer.

The tax cuts are made possible due to a state budget surplus that's about $912 million higher than originally estimated.

Republican legislative leaders are praising the plan, while Democrats say more needs to be done to benefit the middle class.
