DULUTH - The Duluth Chamber of Commerce hosted two Minnesota politicians to "A Capitol Conversation" Tuesday.

Sen. Al Franken and Congressman Rick Nolan visited Duluth’s harbor.

They also attended lunch with Mayor Don Ness and local authorities to talk about helping the Northland.

“Minnesota's 8th district, my family, our roots, they run deep and that's my first priority,” said Nolan. “If I'm not representing this district well, I want to be the first to know about it, not the last.”

“The shipping is enormous,” said Sen. Al Franken. “Because of lack of dredging we have barges that go out and ships that go out that aren't full and that makes it more expensive.”

The lawmakers said they are looking forward to dedicating money to the Duluth harbor, and giving locals the skills they need to be successful in the workforce.
