Ice Racers Invade Allouez Bay

SUPERIOR - The Midwest Ice Racing Association kicked off the 1 of 6 their races this weekend. About 150 motorcycle and ATV riders took over the Allouez Bay in Superior showing off their ice racing skills."What we really wanted was to put some money back into the riders so we're totally nonprofit, we do this for fun and we give every bit of it back to the riders,” Midwest Ice Racing Association Promoter Dennis Almer said. “A 17-year-old kid drives his little ranger here, if we can give him $200 dollars in his pocket to get home with gas he's happy, so it draws people in." The second race of the series will kick off next week in Solon Springs. Registration is still open.
