The Centers for Disease Control says the flu has reached epidemic levels in the U.S.Every state will likely have flu cases within the next few weeks and more deaths are expected.So far, 15 children have died this season.The flu reaches epidemic levels in the U.S. every year.Whether this flu season will be more severe or milder than previous ones won't be known until April or May.The CDC recommends that everyone six months and older fet a flu shot.--------------------------------------------------------------More Americans are surviving cancer.The American Cancer Society says over the last 20 years cancer deaths have dropped by 22 percent.Fewer people are getting lung cancer because less than 20 percent of American adults smoke.More patients are getting screened for breast, cervical, prostate and colon cancer, but there's no decrease in the number of new breast cancer cases.Thyroid and liver cancer cases are up.--------------------------------------------------------------Most Americans say they like restaurants that label calorie counts on their menus.That's according to a poll done by the Associated Press.The poll was taken after the FDA announced new rules that will require places that sell food and have 20 or more locations to post calorie information on their menus.Those include coffee shops, vending machines, movie theaters and amusement parks.
