Northlanders Honor MLK's Legacy and Spread his Message

DULUTH - Despite the cold temperatures people from all over the Northland were out honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Monday.

A crowd of Northlanders marched through downtown Duluth to spread his message.

People from all walks of life were holding signs and singing civil rights songs.

The group brought attention to issues MLK found most important.

Martin Luther King Jr. Committee Co-Chair, Claudie Washington, hopes this day will bring these issues back to the front of people's minds.

"Hopefully remind people of what Dr. King stood for and hopefully excite some people to get involved to help make the changes," Washington said.

The march ended at the DECC with a packed auditorium to hear a speech focused on the power of education and the legacy of MLK.
