Struggle Continues After Fire At Famous Dave's

HAYWARD, Wis. - The crew at the original famous Dave’s in Hayward is on the road to recovery after a fire devastated the restaurant. It's been six weeks since the first Famous Dave’s burnt to the ground. The general manager says it's heart breaking to look at what it used to be, and while they plan to rebuild, it'll never be the same. The company has been working with its insurance company to determine all the losses. An online fundraiser and local donations have helped the 38 employees get on their feet, but many of them are still jobless and collecting unemployment."Still trying to get through the winter and get hired on in the spring when everybody starts hiring again,” said general manager Dave Von Rueden. “People are on unemployment and you know it's just the worst time of year for this to happen that's for sure."
