DULUTH- Premeditated first-degree murder is the serious charge handed down against the Duluth man authorities say killed an innocent woman inside a grocery store. The prime suspect in this murder case is Jesse Dahlstrom, 35. Dahlstrom made his first court appearance Tuesday by refusing to acknowledge his own name and say he was representing himself.Dahlstrom's public defender told the court he was extremely difficult to communicate with when she tried to read him his rights.  She requested a mental health examination before the case proceeds. The judge agreed to put the case on hold for that examination. The court also set Dahlstrom's bail at $1 million.Prosecutors feel the high bail is necessary for the public's safety.Rebekka Stumme, a St. Louis County prosecutor, said, "His behavior at the grocery store was completely unprovoked and completely out of the blue.  Some of his behaviors suggested that he had some opportunity to make decisions in the grocery store, which indicates to us that there was premeditation."The mental health examination will be completed within 60 days. Sally Pionk, 75, was the victim.
