CLOQUET, Minn. - The Cloquet-based Army National Guard now has a new tool that will help get them through hard winters.
It's called an SUS-V and it'll ride right on top of snow no matter how deep it is.
It will even float if it breaks through ice.
During severe weather, the vehicle will be ready for local authorities to use.
Sergeant 1st Class Troy Smith says, "The SUS-V vehicle is unique for us because it provides an ability that we haven't had here in the Cloquet armory or even in the region."
Even though the vehicle can go mostly anywhere, only the sheriff or the governor of Minnesota can request to use it.
