Ski Hut Gets Locals Gear for Seasonal Sports

DULUTH, Minn. - We're still waiting for the first official day of winter, but if you're a snow lover you've probably already gotten out to enjoy what the area has to offer.

In this week's Knowing Your Neighbors, Diane Alexander takes you to a local business where the goal is to get you geared up for outdoor fun.

When it comes to the seasons, Ski Hut employees don't discriminate.

"In the winter, we're skis, snowboard, cross country, snowshoes. In the summer we're bikes, paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, a little bit of everything," said Chris White, manager at Ski Hut.

The specialty outdoor shop opened in 1955 and has been family operated ever since.

"There's kids that I sold skis to 30 years ago coming in for skis for their kids now," said White.

To keep their inventory cutting edge, the staff goes to shows.

"We've skied on all of the skis on our wall. We went out west last year. It's a great time. We go out and we ride all the bikes. We check it all out before we buy it," said White.

From skis to bikes even snowshoes, they're driven by passion for the sport.

"You're selling an experience. You're not selling a pair of skis or a bike or whatever. You're selling what people are going to use it for and the joy that they're going to get out of it," said White.

To get that joy, weather makes all the difference.

"This year we have early snow. There's tons of excitement about anything you do outside," said White.

So whether you rule the black diamond or are just learning on the bunny hill, staff at Ski Hut says come on in and get hooked up with great gear.
