DULUTH, Minn. - Racers know it as the Daytona 500 of snowmobiling. This week, Spirit Mountain is gearing up for the first big race of the year which is the 23rd annual Duluth National Snocross. Bleachers are up and huge snow moving machines are in the process of building the track. Organizers say last weekend’s warm-up didn’t put a damper on snow making and the cooler temperatures will be better for racing. Organizers expect more than 500 racers and even more spectators."We have racers coming here from Sweden, Norway and probably every Canadian province that gets snow and all the Snow Belt states," explained Gene Shaw, with Visit Duluth. The event starts Friday afternoon and runs through Sunday.Tickets for the race are still available.
